Tracking Tab in Sent Items

T

Tanya

I have outlook 2002 but also have the same problem on
outlook 2000 using exchange 2000 server.

I have set outlook up to 'request a read receipt for all
messages I send' and 'request a delivery receipt for all
messages I send'.

I then go into the 'sent items' folder and on some of the
emails there is an 'i' on the icon and if I double click
and open the email there is a 'tracking tab'.

My problem is that this does not happen on all emails,
only some. They are all sent to internal addresses, some
are replies, some are new messages. There does not seem
to be a pattern. No particular user either, sometimes it
works, other times it doesn't.

Has anyone seen this before. Any advise would be
appreciated.

Thank you

Tracking options are quite advanced;
Only when you delete the read/delivery receipt for the message the icon in
the Send Items folders will change to display an "i" icon and then there
will be tab on the message when you open it.

So just delete all receipt and you'll have the tab and icon in your Send
Items folder.

Hope this helps.

The response below is quite correct - What I would like
to do is to automate the process though, so that I don't
see the Read: and Delivered messages in my inbox.

If I create a rule to delete messages with Read: or
Delivered: in the subject line then the Tracking tab in
the Sent item does not appear. So the Read: and
Delivered: messages get deleted but they don't get
processed to update the Tracking .... :-(

Any ideas?

Is there some way of automating the deletion?

If you delete read: and delivered messages in a rule they
don't get processed through to the sent tab message.

I don't like an InBox full of reciepts....

I haven't tested this yet but could it be that this is because they end up
in the Deleted Items folder? Does emptying that folder help?

It could be very likely that the receipts are only being prosessed true the
Inbox folder. If I can remember it and have the time for it I'll try to find
out tomorrow.
