Tracked changes lost

I have typed a document in track changes. While editing, I have alternated
between viewing the document in Final and Final Showing Markup, but have
never accepted the changes. However, when I opened the document today in
Final and shifted to Final Showing Markup in display for review, many of the
changes did not appear. (Some of the deletions from the original appear as
balloons, but the insertions are no longer showing as insertions.) I have
never accepted the document changes. What could be causing this? Is there
a way to retrieve the changes view?

I am working in Word 2002 on a Windows XP operating system.

Hi Mark

Could be that previously you were looking at 'Original showing markup' which
will show insertions as balloons?

Otherwise, use the Show>Options menu item from the Reviewing toolbar to
change the formatting for insertions - it may have got changed to 'none'.
