Tracked changes display but do not print

Aaargh.

I've used track changes for years without a problem, but it's gone berserk.

I'm using Word 2002, 10.6612.6735, SP3.

Track changes is on
Final showing markup selected (view markup shows selected).
File print, print what shows "Doument showing markup" selected.
Print preview properly shows the changes and bar markers.
Printout shows comments but NOT the tracked changes.

With comments deselected, print preview shows the changes, but the printout
is a clean "Final" version with no markup.

Can anyone suggest what I have done to the program?

Thanks for your reply, and sorry for the delay answering; I was called out
of office yesterday.

Bollons are NOT selected; changes are formatted by color (Red).

I tested other documents and they're working (should have done that earlier,
sorry.)
I've tried a new document, and change tracking works.
I've copied the problem document less the first and last characters, and
change tracking works: I'm assuming that I've somehow corrupted the copy
I'm working on.

Is there any way to detect what I'd changed in the trouble copy to create
the porblem?

It is rarely possible to figure out what causes a document to corrupt. If
you are successful in uncorrupting it, just count yourself lucky!
