track changes not working

Hi,

Have searched and found no solution to my problem.

For some time we've had issues with track changes/compare not working
properly.

My latest example is a user who has compared two documents. When balloons
are showing it does NOT show text that has been deleted. When "in line"
track changes (i.e balloons turned off) you can see the text deleted. WTH

Naturally the quickest and easiest response is to keep balloons turned off
but a) try telling certain lawyers that they have to look at something one
way when they prefer another and b) how can we be sure even with balloons off
that it's correct?

We use iManage for our document management system. I am looking into
purchasing deltaview for my compares but of course have had an issue with
that as well.

So my question....

a) is it commonly known?
b) is there a solution
c) besides deltaview, does anyone else know of a good compare program.

Hi Matt,

I'm doing some testing again with Deltaview, but what I would really like to
know is, why on two occasions with two separate law firms, microsoft's native
compare facility becomes fataly flawed as soon as you install iManage?

I have previously used Softsolutions and in another firm Locus integrated
with Word and never had a problem, but as soon as imanage is installed (in
both firms), compare is unreliable to say the least. Supplier suggests
paying for the add-on Deltaview which is distributed by the same company, so
can't help but consider a conspiracy theory But seriously...
