Tooltips BEHIND taskbar???

Why do tooltips for items in the system tray (including the clock) appear behind the taskbar? If this isn't frustrating enough, sometimes the tooltips don't even display at all

I have done a lot of searching on the web about this one, and most people seem to agree it is a bug. But is there any information from Microsoft about this issue? NO!!! This is such an obvious bug that lots of people have come across but I can't find anywhere where Microsoft admits it!

Some people have suggested turning off fading, disabling balloon tips, unlocking the task bar and many more ridiculous solutions. The fact is the tooltips should NEVER appear behind the task bar, and I don't see why I should have to drastically change my appearance settings just to get tooltips to display properly. (and it appears that these solutions don't work anyway

WHEN WILL MICROSOFT FIX THIS PROBLEM? I suppose their software is so full of security holes that they don't have the time or inclination to fix this simple display issue.

This is such a miniscule problem that most people either shrug their
shoulders, and live with it OR they reboot their computer which will allow
you to see them again - for a while. Really! Do you actually need to see
that today is Friday, February 13, 2004. Most people know what the date is,
unless you are just emerging from a coma!

Go into the task bar properties and uncheck the box for keeping the task bar
on top. Then immediately go back and check the box again. This will fix
the problem for an indeterminate amount of time. I haven't had to do it in
a couple of months.

Hi Andrew,

Sometimes, a bug is a bug is a bug. The tooltip issue is well-known, but
it's not critical to the operation of the system, and therefore is low on
the priority scale. If Windows bothers you this much, try:

www.mandrake.com
www.redhat.com

See if they are more to your liking. As to security holes, you will find
that there are just as many in the consumer versions of Linux as there are
in Windows. And just as many patches to download and install.
