Toolbar Programs

I've just migrated from Win98 to WinXp. Is there anyway in XP that I
can again have my critical program icons on the toolbar that's at the
bottom left, next to the START menu? Just can't seem to find out how
to do that. I used to be able to drag the icons from my Desktop (or
elsewhere) onto the toolbar, but can't do that now.

You can do the same with XP. If you can't drag, right click on open area
and see if "lock the task bar" is marked. If it is, then clear it. Then see
if you can move an icon.

Right click taskbar|toolbars|place a check on quicklaunch.
