Too much memory

Hi,
I have a friend who uses an old Word processing program (Claris Works.)
The software was running OK on her HP laptop with 192 Mgs of RAM. I have
added 512 Mgs of RAM, and the Software cannot run. I get an error saying
"insufficient Memory†I removed the extra RAM and Claris Works can run again.
Is there a way I can limit the memory for this program? Does it have
something to do with wrong Memory chip?
Thank you for any help.

Modify the Shortcut to Claris Works to use a Compatibility Mode
environment ( such as Windows 95 ). Right Click Icon, Properties,
Compatibility (TAB). Enable the checkbox "Run this program in
Compatibility mode for:" and then select the OS environment.

If this works, you will get the prize for the first person ever to get
anything to run under 'compatibility mode' that won't work under normal
mode.
