When I play music files I get quite a bit of echo. How do I reset it to
normal playback settings. This applies in all players.
I alsso get echo if I record in sound recorder.

That's a function of your sounddriver software. Check with the
Control Panel if there is an applet like "Sound Effect Manager"
(or similar) where you can adjust this.

Do you have a microphone plugged in?If so, unplug it.It causes an echo
effect. Also open the volume control in control panel to disable the echo.
Hope this solves the problem.

Horsepucky. You mean if you have the mic plugged in and NOT MUTED.

Thank you for the help however ithe problem appears due to a change of
motherboard with nvidea audio drivers still operating on the system from the
previous built in audio hardware.. I removed all the drivers and reinstalled
the drivers for the new board and hey presto no echo or vocals muted.
Once again many thanks
