too many programs opening.

When I click to open a program, many, many instances of it open at the same
time. Such as Internet Explorer. When I click to open it, it opens it over
50+ times !!
What is causing this? And how can I prevent it?

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
earlier than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show?

Using AVG (Paid current), Spybot 1.3, Hijackthis,
Adaware.
Nothing showing up in the scans that would reflect virus activity.

perhaps you didn't fully read my original post. I have already ran virus
scans, adware scans, trojan scans, AVG Anti-Virus scans, and online trend
micro scans. I have no viruses showing from anywhere in my computer.
