TOC and subheadings?

I am trying to create a TOC which contains subheadings. Is there a way that
Word automatically creates this for me, or do I have to do it manually?
 
From the Insert menu select Index and Tables, then go to the Table of
Contents tab.

The TOC is generated based on the heading styles used in the document.
