To field in new message does not list all addresses

Outlook 2003
When you start to type a senders address in a new email it usually lists all
of the contacts starting with the letters you have typed.
One of my contacts no longer appears in this list. The address still exists
in the contact list, although I did change it recently.
When I right click the field just before this address on an email I received
it says the address "is Not an Online Contact".

1. The list you see when typing the the autocomplete cache. It shows up to
the last 2000 addresses. It's fragile and addresses disappear easily.
2. The online contact thingy is for windows messenger contacts list.

Is there any way of refreshing the list?

Not refresh, but there are tools you can use to work with the file. See
