This *may* have started after installing .NET Framework.

Hi Detlev
I did install .NET Framework, but it was some time ago and my prob
only started last weekend.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282866/en-us/ doesn't appear to be of
help - or am i missing something, I couldn't find anything relating to
getting rid of the "To begin click your user name" screen

Probably a result of the upgrade to '.Net framework' which adds an
account for itself. Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you
have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its Logon page, uncheck 'Show ASPNET on Welcome Screen' - and any other
'Show whoever' apart from your own
