tired of windows

I am getting sick and tired of windows OS
i have re-installed my OS numerous times and sick of getting the blue
screen of death

as someone as pointed out before multitasking is a joke
all apps clash with each other and i am frustrated of windows hanging up
installing updates,patches everytime is getting tiresome now

not to start a war or something,but i am seriouly considering swtiching to
mac,i have read numerous articles on how excellent it is and it never
crashes

Stop whining and go buy a Mac then.

If windows crashes a lot, it could be the Hard Drive
having a corrupt block. That's what happend to me.

Mac may work for you(good luck finding programs that you need), but your
setup is NOT the norm for xp. I regularly take care of numerous xp computers
and they all are fast and problem free. Honestly, I have-not seen a blue
screen in over 18 months. Sounds like your computer has some hardware and or
driver problems. The os is fine and what you install it on and what you
install on it makes a difference.

i thought of three things when i read your post,
1.Bad Ram
2. Bad Video Drivers
3.Dying video card.
theres a maybe there as well, overheated cpu

We bought an imac this spring and are very happy with it. I
also use a windows computer extensively for work and
installed XP pro on that shortly after we got the imac. Xp
has been very stable for me - but I did a clean install
with the complete version on a new hard drive(which was a
pain and I didn't get it right the first time). My biggest
gripe about Windows XP Pro(Sorry MS!)is all the aps that
come with it that are next to useless without days of
learning and tinkering then finaly giving up: Fax, backup
utility, briefcase etc. Then there's all the security BS.
These are my comments on the imac: it does hang up
sometimes so don't let anyone tell you it doesn't. There is
a learning curve if you are used to Windows and don't want
to take the time to learn the thing and I don't think it's
really any easier to use. It does cost more, but in time
savings it may be worth it since there seems to be less
tinkering needed and you don't need to worry as much about
viruses (you can still transmit windows viruses through
email). You can also get Microsoft Office for the Mac and a
platform called "Virtual PC" that lets you run windows aps
on your Mac (haven't tried it so don't know how well it works.

oh, and i forgot. bad caps on the motherboard.
there were a huge number of these that came out of taiwan, everybody from
gateway to ibm to ecs to abit and almost everyone inbetween got hit.

Why is it people INSIST still on saying stupid things like 'good luck in
finding programs you need'.

I'm a long time Mac AND PC user who doesn't mind using either version.
People who make those kind of comments obviously have no clue what they are
on about. I use a lot of industry 'standard' apps on my Mac that are
available on PC too.

Hello,

It's easy to say I'm going to get a Mac because Macs
don't have problems. That isn't true because I use Macs
at work and they breakdown also. All OS fail once in
awhile because nothing's perfect. Yes, Win OS might fail
alot, but that is because of human error. I've had
problems with Windows because something I did or didn't
do. I'm just saying is that don't buy into the hype of
Macs because every computer/OS has its problems.

Cause it's true. PC's have alot more software authors/titles than macs. I
have programs on this computer right here that I absolutely use everyday to
do my job that are not available on macs. Without them I can't do my job.
Many software titles are like this. Maybe you found all the mac titles you
need, but there are many, standard, "everyday" apps that don't do mac. You
cannot expect to switch from a pc to a mac and have all the same apps
available cause its just not true.

Be prepared to pay 500% more for an equivalent Powermac. Have you
considered a linux distro like Mandrake 9.2? I have found a speedy
alternative to reinstalling XP and all my apps. It is a freeware program
from http://partition-saving.com/ that makes a copy or restores your OS
partition. It only takes about 10 mins for a 2GB partition. Do a fresh
install of XP and all your apps, setup email,news etc then make a copy of
the OS partition to a fat32 partition. Now you can restore it in a few
minutes. I keep the OS partition to approx 4GB separate from my data
partitions. If you turn off hibernate and paging the save file will be
smaller
