Time server issues

Has anyone seen this erro message, "The time sample was rejected because the
peers stratum is less than the hosts stratum." ? When windows tries to update
the time, does it from all time servers, not just time.windows.com

I'm getting it on all our systems, xp sp1 sp2 with the daylight savings
patch and without it.

Can anyone shed some light on it and how to make it start updating time again.

When you say "does it with all time servers", which ones have you tried? Just the 2 that come configured in XP? If so, try changing to tick.usno.navy.mil or tock.usno.navy.mil.

That's the problem, most likely. Note that there are *two* patches and
both of them should be installed in your case.

1. "Update for Windows XP (KB931836)"

2. "Update for Windows XP (KB932590)"

Why didn't you search the forum before barfing out your question?
This has already been brought up time and time again, with multiple
suggestions to work around and/or fix it. Try doing a little research
before blurting out your problem!

Rick,

Thanks for asking this question. Your post, even though answered many
times before, was the first one I found during my search and thus
helped me find the answer I needed.
