Thunderbird Newsreader

I am reposting this question because I did not make it clear that my
question referred to the news reader and not the e-mail program. My
problem is that I cannot get the program to block messages from the
loonies that are haunting a certain newsgroup. I click on "create filter
from message" and have "delete" selected but the message is not deleted
nor is the sender blocked from sending messages. Any suggestions?

Thunderbird's filtering capabilities are very limited. If they can be
blocked, someone in netscape.mozilla.thunderbird on Netscape server
could probably help. This link should work to take you to that group:

Going to try and help you test it now. Please reply to this post as I
have put you on the block list. Lets see what happens.

Not sure if this will help you but heres how I do it:

In the filter rules, check "delete the message" and "ignore the thread"
You should note that it will not affect the messages already in the
newsgroup, only new ones. Make sure that in the filter rules, you have
entered the correct info to tell it what you want blocked ie "sender"
"is" "persons email address"
