I have not seen anyone mention it in a.c.f yet:

Release notes:
http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/releases/1.5.html
Here's what's new in Thunderbird 1.5:

* Automated update to streamline product upgrades. Notification of an update is more prominent,
and updates to Thunderbird may now be half a megabyte or smaller.
Updating extensions has also improved.
* Sort address autocomplete results by how often you send e-mail to each recipient.
* Spell check as you type.
* Saved Search Folders can now search across multiple accounts.
* Built in phishing detector to help protect users against email scams.
* Podcasting and other RSS Improvements.
* Deleting attachments from messages.
* Integration with server side spam filtering.
* Reply and forward actions for message filters.
* Kerberos Authentication.
* Auto save as draft for mail composition.
* Message aging.
* Filters for Global Inbox.
* Improvements to product usability including redesigned options interface, and SMTP server management.
* Many security enhancements.

Should I uninstall version 1.0.7 or is it ok to install overtop?

Always un-install the old version first. For safety, zip your
thunderbird profile and data to make easy to rollback in case something
back happened. Watch for any extensions not supported by 1.5.

(clipped)

Thanks Vegard. I just uninstalled 1.0.7 and installed 1.5. Looks like
the wait for extension updates begins now. Also, wanted to mention for
the benefit of others that "Spell check as you type" only underlines
words that it doesn't recognize. I guess that's going to take getting
used to, but I can see where it would really help. Also, it's easy to
disable in Options if a person really doesn't like it.

Unfortunately, the Thunderbird help file is only accessible if you're
online and can access their website. Not sure how long this has been the
case, but it sucks bigtime IMO.

It's always been like that, and I agree.

Heh. Guess I don't really need the help file that much though (or I
would have noticed this sooner), and *that* speaks very well for the
program!

I just noticed that Firefox, on the other hand, does indeed have a
really for real offline help file. Hope it stays that way.

Well, I downloaded it and it won't retreave my e-mail. It was a new
install although I have been using the portable version. I triead all i
know to try so i just uninstalled it and am still using my portable. I
