If anyone can point me to a .zip package (non setup) standard build copy
of Mozilla Thunderbird v1.06 for MS Windows (2000) I would greatly
appreciate it.

I have it ziped ready to send, do you have a Yahoo email address.

You can actually just grab the appropriate nightly build right from the
mozilla FTP server. You just have to figure out the right day, I don't
know the date off-hand, but it will be the nightly immediately preceding
the release date.

I looked at the site, but there only seems to be an installer version
download for Windows. This may be because of the way that Thunderbird by
default locates profile files and folders in the Windows folder. On the
other hand, JohnHaller.com has this portable version which is in a .zip
file like you're wanting:

and it's now an "official MozDev project" hompaged here:

Maybe size of the pkg? Could you upload to YouSendIt?

Or maybe we are just email incompatible. :/ I tried to get you with
several variations of your munged return address without success.
