thumbnail wallpaper desktop

I want to create a desktop wallpaper from 100+ thumbnail
size pictures. Each thumbnail next to each other. There
are no icons on the desktop(except recycle bin - no
picture there). What would be a good edit program to do
this? Can MS-Paint do this if I get paint installed.
