I have two instances where the error
"This Program Has a Problem and Needs to Close"
happens.

One is with dBase 7. It worked in Windows 98, but after
upgrading to Windows XP Pro and reinstalling dBase 7 it
always gets this error. It never worked under Windows XP.

The other is with the Fonts Program in the Control Panel.
It happened for the first time while I was installing True
Type fonts from the Fontmaster II CD Library. I had
selected every font for installation. After that never
again could I invoke the Fonts Prgram. Every time I do I
get this error even after a fresh reboot. The message I get
when I try to is
"Windows Explorer Has a Problem and Needs to Close"

Remove sj. from my email address if you want to respond
directly. It is a spam jammer.

I am not sure about dBase7. I will attempt Windows Compatibility Mode
with it.

But the Font Program is invoked in the control panel and comes as a
standard part of Windows XP. It worked before I attempted to install all
those fonts. The problem happened for the first time during the
installation of those fonts.

I tried changing comapatibility on Visual dBase7. I set it to Windows
98, the operating system I had it running on before. It still would not
run. The error was the same as before.

The Error Signature is:
AppName: vdb.exe AppVer: 7.0.1.0 ModName: vdb.exe
ModVer: 7.0.1.0 Offset: 0031f3e4

When I try to open Fonts from the Control Panel the Error Signature is:
AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1221 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1106 Offset: 0001da62

I just tried to browse the folder F:/WINDOWS/Fonts using the Windows
Explorer that came with Windows XP. I got the same error;

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1221 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1106 Offset: 0001da62

This directory is in Drive F: because I have dual Raid 0 disk drive
system. This makes drive F: is the main system hard drive instead of the
usual drive C:

I did Error Checking using the Windows Explorer | Properties | Tools. I
assume this is the same as Scan Disk for Windows 98. This did not solve
the problem.
