This item has been changed. Are you sure you want to delete it.

Occassionally when I delete an eMail with forwarded information, an Alert
window pops up saying "This item has been changed. Are you sure you want to
delete it?"

I do not understand why that message is being displayed because the message
is being opened for reading, not being forwarded.

Is there a way to stop that message?

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Deleted in what way? There are loads of ways to delete a message.
What version of Outlook are you using?
What account type are you using?
Does the mail item contain any downloaded webcontent?

I am using Outlook 2003 and POP3 eMail accounts.

After a little testing, it appears the ALERT message can be avoided by
simply exiting the attached eMails until one backs out to the original eMail,
then delete that eMail and the Alert does not appear.

WORK-AROUND FOUND.

I wouldn't call that a work around but normal and expected behavior. You are
opening an attachment from within an e-mail without saving the attachment
first. This means you are nesting. If you then delete the parent (mail)
without closing the child (attachment) first you are creating an orphan
which is worth an alert.
