This is a real problem solver

I'm using WindowsXp and MS Office

-Adobe Reader: Execute the program and it hangs, and won't completely open.
Solution: Wait to get timed out or
clt+alt+del/Processes/AcroRd32.exe/End Process to Exit. Either way you need
to force exit of program, during which the CPU usage is between 90 and 100%.

- Windows IE: You can download a *.pdf file from any web site and save, but
if you open it Acrobat Reader hangs, I'm using ver. 6.1. I tried unstalling
Acrobat reader and installing an earlier version like 5.0 and I get similar
results.

- Windows explorer: Opening a *.pdf file you get timed out with this
message, "web pdf.api failed to Initiate"

- Windows IE: On Ebay, You can do a search but when you click on a auction
item to view it the page times out
before the item comes up.(even at non peak hours)

- Windows IE: Windows update/"Scan for updates"/Internet Explorer hangs,
clicking anywhere on
the page after that the screen washes out.

- Windows IE: When I go to either American express, or Scottrade web site I
can log on to the site
but cannot view any accounts.

U812,
As for a couple of your problems... I too have been seeing this.
On some of those windows they are using JAVA and these new
machines just don't deal with it like the older ones.. Also, you
might try shutting off any POP UP stopper that you have running
when you try to access those pages. I have found that it will mess
up some sites that use MANUALLY executed popups. I have a
bunch of those on my own website and if I don't clear the TIF files
and Cookies before I go there and shut off the POPUP stopper, I
can't even see the stuff on my own site. I didn't have this problem
running my 98 machine... MS needs to find fixes for this stuff.
Hope this helps and give it a try if anything I said above might
pertain to your particular problems.
I am not soliciting here, but go look at the main "smokydog" site
below and go to the PIX lantern on page three and see if you can
view the pictures... They are beautiful but do have JAVA applets
to run them.... See if they will work for you and let me know...
Thanx,
