I have Adobe Acrobat 6 on my PC (full version, not just the reader). [I
also have the 5.0 reader only, because I've run into files that can be
opened with 5 but not 6].
I have both IE (XP Pro SP2 version) and Netscape 7.2 browsers on my system.
The system is completely stable and generally, everything works.
However, I can't open PDF files that appear on web sites from within IE.
If I try to do so, IE opens Acrobat 6 and begins to open the file, but
then IE hangs, and I end up having to shut down both Acrobat and IE with
task manager.
If I save the file to my hard drive, I can then double-click on it and
it opens just fine (with Acrobat 6.0).
Also, I can open PDF file links just fine from Netscape 7.2, without
saving the file to my local hard drive first. It works just like it should.
Clearly, the "plug-in" functionality of Acrobat within IE has become
corrupted.
Is there a way, short of reinstalling IE and/or Acrobat, to repair this?
Thanks
