this folder was last updated at... issue, combined with calendar i

We have had the familiar issue of certain people having connectivity issues
to the Exchange 2007 server, in the sense that they get a notice in outlook
2003 or 2007 saying "this folder was last updated at 12am" etc.. the only way
for them to receive new emails in a given folder is to goto send receive and
"update this folder only" or delete their profile and start over or run an
OST check..

In one case the user had a brand new machine, clean install, the next day
this began.

The biggest issue around this, is that they often cant see all calendar
items, and as a result they are able to book a meeting with a resource that
is already booked.

Does anyone know of an obvious fix here besides what i have tried.

In most cases i just enable a send/receive every one minute, but i must go
through their client and check off all folders to do so.. but this doesnt fix
the calendar issue.

Thanks

the cause of our situation in most cases appears to be one and only one
embedded account that is added as an additional mailbox.. the person has
other additional mailboxes, but this one account is causing the issue.. i'm
not sure how to resolve this short of making them use a seperate profile for
the one extra account they must access, but this is not ideal.

Hi

I've got the same problem with XP systems running outllok 2007 connecting to
exchange 2007.

Also it seems to center around an additional mailbox being opened as part of
the users profile. It does seem to be one particular mailbox which causes
the problem.

I don't have access to the exchange server so can't find out anything about
that mailbox other than what I can see from the client.

What I do know is that this particular mailbox which is accessed by a number
of people has other problems too. For example one user might move / rename a
folder but this change might not be visible to all users of the mailbox.
Weirdly it is often not visible to the person who actually made the change
after a short period of time. The other notable thing about this mailbox,
which may be totally irellevant, is that it contains a lot of folders!! A Lot
being somewher between 400 and 500.

Does any of this sound familiar?

The best work around I have found is to turn off cached mode for the users
own mailbox. The client seems to be able to see the mailbox just fine,
sometimes a bit slow but it works. Not ideal especially for laptop users but
with multiple profiles setup one cached one not and one without the
additional mailbox and some careful explanation of when they should be used
people are able to get their mail without having to contact us all the time.

If I find out anythign new I'll let you know.

Glad to see i wasnt the only one noticing this with embedded mailboxes..

Recently exchange 2007 had a bunch of patches.. i ran those, i swear since
doing this, at least with the one user and this problem embedded box, she
hasnt reported any troubles.. still evaluating though.

That's good news. Do you know which patches you applied?

Thanks

Not positive, but i think it was either Update rollup 3 for exchange 2007
sp1 (kb949870) or update rollup 5 (kb953467) , most likely both.
