Hello,
I am using office2003 and I have configured user templates pointing to a
server location for users. Sometimes when I close word or outlook it comes up
with:
This file is in use by another application or user. (..normal.dot).

It asks me to save a copy of the normal.dot or save a different copy.

Any ideas?

When you pointed the user templates folder to a shared folder you also
redirected Normal.dot to this location and it sounds like multiple
users are attempting to share it as well. Normal.dot wasn't designed
to be shared by multiple users and that's why you are encountering the
'file in use' message because it is being used by someone else.

Instead, you should point the User Templates location back to their
local drive and use the Workgroup Templates location to your shared
folder.
