Should I stick with XP or upgrade to VISTA
Unless I am misunderstanding your question, the word "upgrade" isn't
applicable here. The question is which operating system should you get
on your new computer.
If this were an upgrade, I would have a very different answer;
changing from one operating system to another is right for some
people, but probably wrong for most. But on a new computer, the answer
is very clear in my mind: go with Vista. Although there will always be
those who live in the past and think their old operating system is
better than the new one (whatever the old and new ones are), to me it
makes no sense not to move forward when you buy a new computer. I am
personally happy running Vista here.
Be aware of two things, though:
1. Vista requires more powerful hardware than XP. Don't skimp in this
area.
2. My experience was that all of my applications (except for a couple
of minor utilities) ran just fine under Vista. However, if you want to
run older versions of some programs, it is possible that you may have
to upgrade to a newer version.
