The usual question... : )

I'm after a new inkjet and need a common inkjet to:

* Mainly printing scanned CD covers, photos and scans of comic books.
* Print the odd page of text - not necessary great text.
* Has separate color ink cartridges/tanks.
* Would like something EASY to refill. : ) or even that uses
archival ink or generic cartridges (not important either way, but I'm
sick and tired of flushing clogged epson heads).
* Doesn't have a fit with non-genuine ink cartidges.
* Works with Windows 98 to XP.
* Backwards compatible with USB 1.
* Doesn't mind sitting for weeks not being used. (Will actually print
first time every time, without getting the glass cleaner out or
installing a new ink cartridge.)
* Works more than the two weeks my epson did, so preventing my
hairline to receed every time I want to print half a page with all
nozzles working.

I was planning on a Canon some time ago, but it now seems those models
are getting lots of complaints here...

FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!

Is there an inkjet on the market yet that actually WORKS instead of
breaking down or getting clogged!?

All help appreciated... : )

This may not be what you wnated to hear..........

There is no inkjet printer out there that does not have some kind of
shortcoming.

For photos, Epson was the traditional quality leader. Now Canon is
nipping at their heels.

Epson clogging CAN be managed. Personally, I am on my 3rd Epson, and
have yet to have serious issues.

There is more 3rd party stuff for Epson, ink, refill kits, conintuious
feed, etc.

Epson has roll paper feature--many others do not.

Canon is excellent print quality, and is FAST

Epson is the only one selling an archival pigment printer (2200),
although I'm sure 3rd party archival stuff will appear very quickly
for Canon.

HP has been slow to make real photo printers, but they are coming on
fast.

Thanks Mark... What's "roll paper feature" though?
On my 900 and 1280, there are brackets that allow mounting a roll of
paper---and the drivers have the appropriate modes. Epson makes some
of their papers in 4", 8", and 13" widths. I use 4" a LOT for
snapshots
