Here is what Linux advocacy is all about.
http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9590_22-5658519.html

" Laura DiDio, an analyst at the Yankee Group who has been at the
receiving
end of much of the criticism from Linux advocates, claimed the radical
elements of the community could damage the reputation of open source
software."

"There's an extremist fringe of Linux loonies who hang out on forums and
are disrespectful and threatening because you disagree with them," DiDio
told ZDNet UK on Wednesday. "That can hurt the Linux community."

"DiDio feels she has been unfairly criticized on open source forums,
including being nicknamed DiDiot, and has even had Linux advocates
contacting her at home. "I've had these nut jobs calling me at 11 o'clock
at night," said DiDio."

All the more reason not to use a real name when criticizing Linux.

"The reactionary nature of much of the open source community is something
that DiDio claims is unique in the software industry. "I've lived through
the Unix wars none of them reacted in this way," said DiDio. "It's
just software. This has got way out of proportion."

Some of these so called Linux advocates are mentally ill people and in
many respects they are dangerous to both themselves and society in general.
The open source community is infested with socially, mentally defective
people like that.
They will try and track you down, call your workplace, harass you at home
and so forth.
Real mental cases some of them are.

It's no wonder Linux has such a poor reputation for support.
Look who is supporting it.

The same loonies who tell you to RTFM when you ask a question.
Or better yet, they tell you that the problem does not exist, despite a
mound of evidence from Google that many others have the same problem.
Then of course if all else fails they will call the user an idiot.

And that's Linux advocacy for you.
I've never seen anything like that in the Apple community.
Never.

pretending to be an anal yst at the Yankees Group
(see http://www.wikipedia.com for dildo qualifications!!!)
who has been at the receiving end of much of the criticism
from windopz zealotic advocates for being an illiterate micoshaft shill,
claimed the radical elements of the clippy worshipping community could
damage the reputation of closed source software."

"There's an extremist fringe of windopz zealotic
loonies who hang out on forums and are disrespectful
and threatening because you disagree with them," Dildo vibratingly
told ZDNet UK on Wednesday. "That can hurt the vibrator uzzzzer community."

"Dildo feels she has been fairly criticized on open source forums,
including being nicknamed Dildo, and has even had windopz zealtoic advocates
contacting her at home and offer to pay for a windopz license
(not software). "I've had these nut jobs calling me at 11 o'clock at night,"
said Dildo "..offering me windopz homo edition license. Just what the fsck
am I supposed to do with all that clap when I can download hundreds
of free Linux distros from http://www.livecdlist.com ?"

Some of these so called Linux advocates are mentally ill people and in

You can't stereotype an entire group based on the actions of a few of
its members. It's unfair, inaccurate, and just plain ignorant.
The open source community is infested with socially, mentally defective
people like that.
They will try and track you down, call your workplace, harass you at home
and so forth.
Real mental cases some of them are.

DiDiot's accusations were against a small handful of people, and yet
she would lead readers to believe that the entire OSS community is some
sort of extremist group. The entire article seemed to be hugely
exaggerated.
It's no wonder Linux has such a poor reputation for support.
Look who is supporting it.

What the hell does the mental soundness of the community have to do
with support?
There are communities that were founded by the mentally unsound, and
largely comprised of the same, which are very well supported by their
members. Just look at Scientology...
The same loonies who tell you to RTFM when you ask a question.

That depends on where you ask, and how. The manuals contain huge
amounts of useful information and usually show solutions to problems
that may not normally be addressed.
Or better yet, they tell you that the problem does not exist, despite a
mound of evidence from Google that many others have the same problem.
Then of course if all else fails they will call the user an idiot.

I've never seen this happen. What I have seen is people who repeatedly
ask for help with the same question after they've been referred to the
appropriate documentation and then practically spoon-fed the solution
to their problem. Those sort of "helpless" users are not much else but
idiots.

Take your meds 7, because you are about a 1/2 pint low.

Look who is talking no life flatfish whom is obsessed with trolling this
NG. How hours of your life have you spent posting in this NG?

I don't tend to agree with Flatfish very often, but the NG would be
better off without 7.

Flatfish cross posting is annoying though.

Oh hi, out there from COLA!

Charles~

Are you speaking English?

But it's not a few.
These crazy Linux zealots are truly obsessed with their operating system.
It's been documented many times before and in fact Linux has developed
quite a reputation for having *over the top* supporters.

DiDiot's accusations were against a small handful of people, and yet
she would lead readers to believe that the entire OSS community is some
sort of extremist group. The entire article seemed to be hugely
exaggerated.

Really?
Calling up someone to harass them is exaggerated?
It's especially weird when the reason is an operating system.
Now THAT"S weird!

What the hell does the mental soundness of the community have to do
with support?

Duhhhhh....

Where do most people get their support from?
Support contracts from Redhat?
Nope.

Over the Internet and the very same nutters in COLA are trolling the Linux
support groups right now, pissing people off.

There are communities that were founded by the mentally unsound, and
largely comprised of the same, which are very well supported by their
members. Just look at Scientology...

Forget Scientology.

Just look at comp.os.linux.advocacy.
That depends on where you ask, and how. The manuals contain huge
amounts of useful information and usually show solutions to problems
that may not normally be addressed.

I didn't get a manual with PCLinuxOS.

Take a look at ANY Linux support group and you will quickly see "the Linux
attitude".
It's the "I'm superior to you because I use Linux and have been for 10
years or so"

And this goes all the way back to Unix.
I've never seen this happen. What I have seen is people who repeatedly
ask for help with the same question after they've been referred to the
appropriate documentation and then practically spoon-fed the solution to
their problem. Those sort of "helpless" users are not much else but
idiots.

You've never seen people say "works for me, it must be you"? in a Linux
group?

You're even more clueless than your dad.......

Au contraire. CNET Networks writers and anybody willing to conduct an
interview with them - THEY are the loonies.

Well, you're an idiot. No one is forcing you to read his posts.
