If you turned off the computer by pulling the power plug then you are
lucky that it still works at all.

What happens when you open Task Manager, or try to? Does it produce
any sort of error message? Does it open for a second or so and then
close itself? A more complete description will help to identify
exactly what has gone wrong.

Here is one thing that you can try. Open a command prompt window
(Start - Run - CMD) and enter the follow command:

SFC /SCANNOW

This will take a while.

Good luck

Task Manager unspecified problem. Scroll down and pick one.

To start the Task Manager...

Ctrl + Alt + Delete
or
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
or
Right click the Taskbar | Task Manager
or
Start | Run | Type: taskmgr | Click OK

Ctrl + Alt + Delete opens the Windows Security window if the Welcome screen
is turned off.

When you open Task Manager, it flashes for a second and quits.

This symptom can be caused by viruses.
