The Slow Start Problem

I have been exploring the various boards here and it seems there is a steady question asked and it concernsthe fact that boot up has slowed down for many xp useers. My system is now taking over two minutes to boot complete and I am sure it did it in seconds when I bought it. What are the most fruitful steps to speed things up?
 
Have you been exploring the answers to those questions? What have you tried
thus far?
