Frankie,

I know this might sound like dumb questions, but it is always easiest to
start at the least complicated things.

1. Are you sure that you are logging into the server with a domain account?
Make sure that you are using domain credentials. As a test, you might even
want to log on with a domain administrator to test.

2. Make sure that the file server can see the DC. Use ping against the DC
name and then also a ping against the domain name to make sure that DNS is
working correctly. You might be logging in with cached credentials and not
really hitting the DC.

3. Go through your logs to be sure that there are no DNS errors on your
servers and that there aren't any other more obvious problems.

4. Try basic diagnostics with DCDIAG and NETDIAG as these will often point
you to your problems.

Let me know if you come up with other information or logs that will help us
narrow the hunt.

Best wishes,

ONe question, what DNS servers are the machines using? They must ONLY use
the internal DNS. They cannot use an external DNS such as your ISP's DNS.
Active Directory uses DNS to find it's service locations and resources. If
you use an outside DNS that does not have the Active Directory info, you
will see numerous problems. Your problem is indicative of this and why I am
asking what DNS are your machines configured with?
