The receipt request sends a Not read : Mail deleted message.

In Outlook you have a feature where you can ask for read receipt from the
sender.
However, even if the receiver has read the mail and deletes it before moving
on to another mail, the system treats the mail as having been deleted without
having been read.

This message then goes back to the sender of the mail, who rightly feels
aggrieved that the mail sent was treated so casually.

Mithilesh

Do you have a question?

The feature you're describing relies upon the e-mail message being marked as
read. If the message is actually read, in a reading or preview pane, but
not marked as read Outlook has no way to know that and thus cannot report
that the message was read.

People who send read receipts need to understand that "Deleted without being
read" actually only means "Deleted without being marked as read." E-mail
receipts are of questionable value anyhow.

We had this same problem, but found a work around ... in Outlook, we go to
TOOLS then OPTIONS then OTHER then PREVIEW PANE. in that window, we check
"Mark messages as read in preview window" and set the wait value to 0 ...
that way the e-mail is marked as "read" as soon as the recipient clicks on it
.... not a perfect solution, but it works for us!
