The page cannot be displayed / Spybot

Jim

I ran Spybot and deleted adware. My computer froze and
the deleted files were lost versus saved as part of
Spybot restore function.

Now, my IE 6.0 won't open web pages "the page cannot be
displayed" even though I am connected to the Internet.
All other Internet programs are functioning except IE.

I have tried to reload IE 6.0 but it still has not
corrected problem.

Can anyone suggest a remedy or correction. I assume a IE
file has been deleted.

I'm having the same exact problem. I ran spybot and my
Internet Explorer stopped functioning. Something I noticed
is that in the properties, it says that there is no
protocol, where it should say "Hyper Text Transfer
Protocol."

*Undo* SpyBot's "Immunize" feature: http://tomcoyote.org/~mosaic1/spybot/
If no joy, hit the "Recovery" button, must be viewing in Advanced Mode,
recover the files that were wiped during your last scan.

I looked at Spybot "Immunize" feature - Undo. "Immunize"
feature function was not activated so there was nothing
to undo. I tried to restore prior setting but restore
function was off at the time this occurred and no prior
dates were available to restore settings.

Thanks for your thoughts on the matter.

Any other suggestions?

Jim

Maybe Spybot is not my problem, as I tried the above steps and
still cannot view any images on my Excite Start Page and many
other sites. I get the [ad size] caption where some graphics and
images go. It first started with IE only, then spread to Mozilla
and Netscape. I've used the Excite Start Page for years and
really prefer it over anything else, but not with no background
or images. Even their own logo doesn't show up. Seems to
attempting to load all their images from imgfarm.com, and I tried
adding that to the Trusted Sites zone but that didn't work
either. Just red "x"s. It's odd that some pages work completely
and fine.

I don't see an "Advance Mode" in Spybot, but the tools you
mention were available and seemed to perform ok.
I guess it's toss up of whether you want all the web pages you
view to work or whether you want protection from all the evil
planners and spammers out there.
I prompt to allow cookies, active X and Java for these sites but
to no avail.
