Page Cannot be Displayed

I am using IE 6 with SP 2. I keep getting messages when I click links from
to some webpages that The Page Cannot be Displayed. The following is
displayed in the bottom progress bar....

Downloading picture res://c:\Windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/pagerror.gif....

I have deleted my History files, deleted temporary internet files and
cookies. I have also deleted the cache in my Java console and increased the
disk space settings. Nothing has worked. I have also noticed that sometimes
I can click on a link and it will not display the page but I can actually
type in the exact same information from the link into the address bar and it
will actually pop up.

Any gurus out there have any ideas for me?

Hi Suzy :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

A third-party is probably blocking that image/ad- maybe a HOSTS file. See:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm If not a HOSTS file, check the
settings of any other security, privacy, ad-blocking programs that are
running.

also........

This error might also be cause by adware. Do the following:

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab
Uncheck the option for "Enable third-party browser extensions"
Click Apply
Click OK
Close the browser.
Restart the browser and check to see if it resolves the problem

If this corrects your problem, then you have some form of scumware on your
system, so you need to do the following to clean it from your system:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

You should also get a copy of WINSOCKXPFIX available at:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
and
WinsockXP Fix- WinXP
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
with instructions, at
http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm
also... From LavaSoft- all versions of Windows-
http://digital-solutions.co.uk/lavasoft/whndnfix.zip
(NOTE: It is reported that in XP SP2, the command netsh winsock reset
will fix this problem without the need for these programs.)
or Winsock Fix Utility

Hope this helps :)
