As with many of you I also had a problem with the appearance of the Blue
Screen.
I had this problem for over 2 months searched every where for a solution and
just like all of you NO DEAL- I have a DELL and their support stinks.
I bought a HP Minitower - & had the same problem with the Blue Screen -
Their support stinks and shipped the HP back to them - Than I bought a SONY
and this had the same problem - they resored my machine but the problem
re-appear when installing the DSL YAHOO [ Is this software the problem?? ]
Returned the SONY and got back to my DELL. People - this is NOT a fix but
defenitely to go around the problem of the "DAMM" Blue Screen!!
First to let you know what the appearance of my "Blue Screen" problem is.
I istalled several software - HP all in One, DSL Yahoo, MS Office, USB auto
share, Adobe and other software --
There was NO indication of a problem, but when I restarted the DELL a screen
appears where I could select - Normal start up and also the last good
restore point - When I sellected this - YES you guesed it - The screen turned
"BLUE"
The only way I could use was to use the Task Manager for everery thing [
Internet access - word-excell files - printing etc. I tried to experiment
with the TASK MANAGER accessing the System Configuration Utilities- Remember
I could not access the control panel!! Today I experimented again and this is
what I did:
Open the Task Manager - Go to the help - search for 'Windows' -Click on
"list the topics" Then Select "Windows XP Openeing Page"
The Help & Support shows up -- Click on the ICON From the Pick a subject
Select "Tools" and under tools - select "System Configuration Utility"
On the right "Open the System Configuration Utility" A screen appears
Here is where I did the work: [ I do not want to go into detail what I did ]
But by using "Selective Startup" with the combination of the 4 items uder
this I was able to bring the system up enough to my satisfaction. I was able
to see ALL the Icons, access the internet - do the printing ETC
My final selection to make this work was that under "Selective Startup" I
selected
Process SYSTEM.INI and Process WIN.INI and Load System Services - But
from the "Load Startuo Items" after some selections - only about 7 items - I
am now able to do my job. Mind you this is NOT a FIX but to get around the
BLUE SCREEN problem.
Try this - hopefully it will work for you
