The "NAME" folder

A sub-folder called "NAME" appears in the "Documents & Settings" folder. It
is a system folder that I cannot delete or re-name. What purpose does it
serve, and is it all possible to give it a more significant or meaningful
name than "NAME"?

Sounds like it may be your account's profile folder.

Start button --> RUN --> type in:
cmd /k echo %UserProfile%
--> Click OK.

What is in the DOS window that comes up?

Should be something like "C:\Documents and
Settings\<username_of_currently_logged_in_account>"
