The infamous disappearing IP

The computer is an MPC desktop. OS is Win 2000 Pro. DSL is
installed. When I input the IP address, subnet mask,
Gateway, and DNS it all looks fine. I save all information
I reboot and go to the internet and get nowhere. I then
check the TCP/IP properties and the IP addresses I just
put in are now gone. HUGH? What's up with this?
 
Is dhcp enabled?
what IP are you issued when this happens?
What hardware connects you to the internet?
Are you using Enternet300 to connect.?
How about posting an ipconfig /all
