The human interface device access terminated

Needs your kind helps.

My keyboard does not function properly. In the event viewer, I got the
following message:

"The human interface device access terminated with the following error: the
specified module could not be found".

Not too sure if the above are related. I am using Windows XP Home edition.

Thanks

Ika,

See if the file hidserv.dll is present in this location:

%SystemRoot%\System32

If not, extract a new copy from the source.

See if this helps and good luck:

The following error will occur if any of the three files (hidserv.dll,
mouhid.sys and mouclass.sys) are missing.

Could not start the Human Interface Device Access service on Local
Computer. Error 126: the specified module could not be found

Extract hidserv.dll, mouhid.sys and mouclass.sys from drivers.cab in the
Windows XP CD to "<Systemroot>\Windows\System32\" to fix the issue.

1.Insert Windows XP Setup CD.
2.Browse to <CD-ROM>:\i386\drivers.cab
3.Double click the drivers.cab file. The compressed files in the Cab file
will be listed.
4.Copy the three files to <SystemRoot>\windows\system32\. Reboot the
computer.

The Human Interface Device Access service will then be started.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The error message mentioned previously disappeared after I copied back the
said files. However, it does not seem to solve problem with the keyboard i.e
when I type using Notepad/Winword, the keys do not respond properly. My
computer is a notebook and I got to play around with the "Fn" key + " Break"
key to have them work which is very troublesome.

In the event viewer, I got a new message concerning COM+:

Kelly - you solution was corect except that mouclass.sys and hidserv.dll were
in the SP2 folder on my new version of XP. The only one in the drivers cab
was mouhid.sys.

Thanks - for the help though ;-}

Thanks! Your suggestion worked beautifully! I used the copy of the
hidserv.dll file that was in the archived copy of sp3.cab.
