I was wondering if anything in SP2 changed the issue of the 27th frame of
the clip being dropped when saving to DV-AVI, so I ran a check.

Yes, it's still being dropped. I did cross-check using Virtual Dub and the
Panasonic DV codec, and none of the frames are dropped by it.... so it's a
Movie Maker/Microsoft DV codec related issue that's still with us.

this is an odd thing... so the workaround is just make 26 frame movies? or
figure the 27th frame to be nothing so if it gets thrown away so what?

now this is all based on what you refer to as frame being the little square
frame picture things on the bottom of MM.

Frames is based on NTSC's 30 frames per second... not the little squares in
MM.. those are clips with lots of frames in each. If you import a DV-AVI
file, put it on the timeline, do nothing with it, and save it as a new
DV-AVI file, you'd see that the new file size is a tad smaller then the
first one. That's because it's dropped the 27th frame.... but it drops the
27th frame of each clip, not just the first one, so the accumulated effect
could become significant.

If you have a movie with 30 clips in it, you'll have dropped a full
second... still maybe not important... it just might be a theoretical issue
in the assumption that each generation of a DV-AVI is identical.

Right... make your 27th frame of each clip not important and you'll never
notice it. :)

Does this result in an audio/video sync problem?
If so, is it cumulative with multiple clips? Or
do the audio/video get resync'd again at the
beginning of each new clip?

Why are you having the same conversation you both had around 6 months ago???

Other than the engineered discussion you are now having, I doubt if any one
gives a hoot....I will have to go and dig out your early conversation...I can
tell you what the answer was if you like...

so many coincidences are there not...

How's Mr. Parker doing? He did not answer my last message

I don't recall having that conversation. This is the
first time I've heard about the dropped 27th frame bug.

And I know I don't have amnesia, because I would
certainly remember having that.

it prior to that. Whether YOU were one of those involved or not...its still
clearly another of his engineered messages....you just can't trust anyone can
you Jeff....by the way, have YOU heard from Mr Parker lately....you will be
able to spot him....his face is covered in Egg LOL
