The drivers are gone for my hardware!

It started with the cd/dvd drive. It stopped burning disks of any kind. Then
it stopped reading them.
My screen no longer has the option to look like a windows XP screen should
(rounded corners, blue tool bar, etc.). It too, is gone from the display
options menu.
I can't find the internet connection uttility anywhere. The sound is gone. I
have no sound at all and no volume control in the task bar. Some of my other
basic icons in the task bar are also gone.
Just about any program or hardware item I try to use brings up an error
message saying that the file could not be found.

I don't know what to do! I've tried looking for the drivers but there's too
many and I can't even find the hardware properties to know exactly what to
look for.

If anyone has any ideas at all I will be very apprecitive!

Either your HD is going bad...........any Noises??
or you can reinstall XP.......try a repair install
or a you've caught a Virus...........running a good anti virus program might
tell you

A little more detail on your actual system would be helpful..........
