The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\D.

This is a new laptop running XP MCE.

I've noticed that the Event Viewer has numerous events (all on the same day
and time), in the section "System" that say "The driver detected a
controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\D." with the "source" being listed as
Disk.

This PC has only one HD (divided into several partitions), so I am not sure
what HD2 means (flash drive F: ?). D: is my CD/DVD drive which is empty.

Any suggestions?

Open Control Panel and through Administrative Tools to Computer
Management, look in Disk Management for the identification of
Disk2. For example, Disk0 is the hard drive; Disk1, probably the
CD/DVD drive. This might make Disk2 the FlashDrive.
