Hi

My DVD just whirls on shop brought DVD's
it refuses to play them.

On the Advanced System Information - 'Error Log'
it states this;

The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block

I'm using XP Home.

From the Device Manager I have uninstalled the
Secondary IDE Channel and rebooted so that
Ultra DMA Mode 2 is active (it turns off after 6 failed attempts).

I have downloaded Media Player 9

I have got WinFast LeadTek DVD and
also InterVideo WinFAst DVD 4.

The same problem occurs on all players.

My PC DVD player is set to Region 2 (UK).

The DVD's that will not play are a set of 5 'not pirates'
with Region code '0' (all areas).

The DVD's play great through my stand alone DVD player.

Does anyone now how to get round this problem
or fix it.

Many thanks - Stephen

Youre player should run in DMA-3,you might also open device
mgr.,expand the drive tree,then select uninstall,close out,
shutdown computer. On restarting,xp will reinstall the device.
