The case of the disappearing signature

Can anybody confirm and/or explain this?

1. Start with Outlook 2007 with at least two Accounts and a signature.
2. Open a New message (in HTML or plain text format)
3. Type a message (not actually necessary)
4. Insert signature
5. Click on the Account icon and change to another account.

The signature disappears !?!

This is the correct behavior. Signatures are per-account. If you have a
signature set up for account A, when you switch to account B, you'll get
that account's signature. If it doesn't have one, the signature will go
away.

If this really is the "correct" behavior then why doesn't the
signature re-appear when I switch back to account A?

I think it would if you had a default signature (even if it's only a single
space or a pair of hyphens) defined for all accounts.
