The application failed to initialize propertly (0xc0000022).....

I'm using XP Home sp2.
Having 2 accounts, one with complete rights (administrator), the other with
only limited rights.
I've installed many applications, all working fine with both users.
Now I've a problem. If the limited user log in some applications do not
start anymore.
This is the error message: "The application failed to initialize propertly
(0xc0000022). Click on OK to terminate the application."
I think is something related with users groups rights. How can I manage them
in Windows XP?
Many thanks

Ale

Hi Alex,

Was it always like this, or did it just recently start after an update or
some recently installed sofrware?

Hi Rick,
It started few days ago, but also if I restore the system, the problem
persists.
How can I manage Users rights in XP Home?
Thank you

Alex

Hi Alex,

If you temporarily upgrade the limited user to admin, does the problem go
away? If so, then you're right, it's a permissions problem and this can be
fixed by adjusting the permissions. If not, then it's a problem with the
program and that user profile that may be solved by reinstalling while
logged on under that account.

not initializing problem

I have the exact same problem!
Indeed, if i switch the limited user's group to administrator, the program(s) work. BUT if it's anything else (even non-standard/created groups) it fails. What do these programs need that can't be gotten from a limited account?

I have been researching this on the web, and is seems (for most people) that using "sfc /scannow" fixes the problem. It doesn't for me. I just want to know exactly what explorer.exe or whatever is doing that it can't run unless it is expressly administrator.

What is available to administrator groups that users groups can't do, anyway? I can't seem to set properties for that.
