That darned paste options clipboard

J

Joe McGuire

Whenever I cut and past some text inside a Word document I am left with that
clipboard-like icon there in the middle of my document for paste options.
Maybe if I was mixing a bunch of styles together it might make some sense.
But, no, the style for the entire document is Normal. Apart from the
heading, Normal is the only style in use when this happens to me. Even if I
were pasting text with a different style or from a different document or
from the internet I would use Paste Special anyway. After annoying me for a
while the durned thing seems to disappear. Is there a way to get rid of it
when it appears?

Have you tried disabling it on the Edit tab of Tools | Options?

Thanks. That gets rid of the thing. One of many mysteries of this
software. If there was some point to it I guess I'll never know.

FWIW, the way to get rid of it when it appears is to click away from it or
continue working (or perhaps press ESC).
