Thanks for the information

Over in "NON-Clogging Inkjet of any brand?" I talked about
my wife's problem with inkjet head clogging, and then in
"Color Laser that does not LIE about toner?" I mentioned my
idea of just buying her a color laser so she would never
again have to worry about ink drying out and head clogging

I've decided that a color laser is simply too much money for
her "color on occassion" printing needs, so am going to get
a non-Epson brand of ink printer

After reading about the Canon (less prone to clogging) and
the HP (also less prone AND a design that puts print heads
right into the bottom of the ink cartridge) and comparing
printer and ink cartridge prices, I've decided on HP

Now, I'm going to do some searching to pick the model that
best matches my wife's daily/monthly printing needs -vs-
the cost of the particular HP model I will buy for her

THAT IS THE ADVICE I GAVE YOU. FOR THE MODEL BE AWARE THAT WITH MOST OF
THE HP PHOTO PRINTERS YOU HAVE TO SWAP INK CARTS EACH TIME YOU CHANGE
FROM TEXT TO PHOTO OR BACK. ONE OF THE TOP MODELS (STILL RELATIVELY
INEXPENSIVE) HAS 3 CART SLOTS SO YOU DO NOT HAVE THAT INCONVENIENCE.
THAT IS THE ONE YOU SHOULD GET.

Buy.com has a special on the HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one, $129 with free
shipping. It is probably worth checking out. I have a 2610 and it is a very
nice printer, scanner, copier, fax. It includes camera card slots, a color LCD
for printing (and zoom and crop) directly from the unit as well as USB and
network connectivity. I do not need one but am slightly tempted to get one as
a spare. See
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=202007832&adid=17654&dcaid=17654 for
the offer of $129 and free shipping, see
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?product_code=Q5542A#ABA
for spec's for the 2610.

If this model only has 2 cart slots then I do not think it is very
good. The only HP (that has printheads in the cart) that is any good is
the one with 3 slots so you do not have to continually play musical
carts. I think it is the 8400 or a close number.
