I am writing a paper; I want to place boxes around some texts to hold them
for another part of my paper. Sort of a "parking device I use" and then
insert the text where more appropriate in the paper. Thanks.

Jack:

Without more detail, it's hard to suggest a great solution.

Perhaps you could put all the text at the end of your document, then split
the screen into two panes to you can see your "parked" text at the same time
as the rest of your document. You can copy or drag text between the panes
pretty freely.

Perhaps you want a second "work" document that you can have open beside your
main document. This will give you a little more flexibility about how the two
windows are arranged, but allows the same abiltiy to copy or drag text.

If you want to place text in a text box in Word 2007, select the text and
then on the Insert tab, click Text Box, and then click Draw Text Box at the
bottom. The selected text should be placed in the new text box.

Another option is to restore your Word window so you see part of your
Desktop. Select your text and then drag/drop it on the desktop to create a
document scrap. Then later you can drag/drop it back into the document. You
can also create a folder for this purpose, open it, and then drag/drop the
scraps through the Windows Taskbar and into the folder.

The only drawback to this issue is you can't see the content and each one is
named "Scrap", "Scrap (2)", and so on.

Now, what would be awesome is if Word had a pane of sorts that you could
drag content to, similar to the Office Clipboard but permanent storage that
is saved with the document, so you could hold various content, text, images,
and such, it for future use.

this...

How odd! I wonder how this ended up getting posted too - I was revising it
from my Outbox but the original was sent before I could finish the
revisions. I didn't think I sent this but instead created a new one... oh
well, sorry for the duplicate!
