Text in IE

Unable to type text in IE6 browser nor is the cusor
acknowledged,
such as typing an address in the text block for Map Quest. The
mouse is engaged and is able to click/select options. Able
to type
text in the Netscape 7.1 browser. I have gone into 'Tools' -
'Internet Options'- 'Advanced' and 'Restored Defaults'. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
