Text editor query.

I have been doing some HTML work on other people's computers
recently but have a problem. I want to use a text editor with the
ability to work off a USB drive AND with MDI capability AND
have a recently used files list.

NoteTab is okay for the first two items but not the third (when
used on a USB drive). Is there a text editor that would do all three ?
Keeping the most recently opened files list on the USB drive ?
So that it was there next time I opened things ?

Regards, John.

NotePad++ should do all 3. MDI, runs off a USB happily and the recent
file history is stored in the XML config file in the directory you're
running NotePad++ from.

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

Only thing to watch out for is down to Windows rather than any specific
editor - your USB key may not always get assigned the same drive letter
on every system you plug it into. If this is the case one a particular
PC and you're working on the HTML files on the USB drive the MRU will be
incorrect. This may be where you run into problems in your search as I
don't know of any programs that use relative rather than absolute paths
in their MRU list...

John,

I haven't tried it, but as long as the drive designation remains the
same Sudden View keeps the info for the last 12 files active plus the
four currently open for a total of 16..

Let me know if it works for you.

Well, I think the drive letter assignment remains the same, but the
MRU list doesn't stick. :-( However, this is a seriously good
program for writing code. A very worthwhile program that I might have
overlooked without your post. Many thanks Ben. Very much appreciated.

Thanks, I must have a look at it sometime again. For now however
it looks like it has a learning curve that I don't have the time/
inclination to apply. Thanks for the suggestion however.

Regards, John.
