text does not display?

Hello all

Here's an interesting one - I'm running W2K SP4 and IE6 SP1 with various hotfixes. Recently, my teenage daughter began complaining about not being able to view text in her AIM window, under her user account. As I don't think much of AIM and keep it pretty locked down, I dismissed it as just another example of bad code. Until I also noticed that a.) when you access help files (W2K, IE, Word, etc.) the index and content lists are okay, but the display pane is blank. b.) some webpages only display partial content - mostly the graphics are okay, but the text is missing. As an example, the Netscape homepage doesn't render properly

So, I began fiddling with system and IE, display and formatting settings, thinking it had something to do with fonts/backgrounds/encoding/scripts. At one point I was logged into the Admin account and looking at Explorer Help and realized there was text....checked IE and Word - no problem. Opened IE and surfed the sites that I had visited previously - no problem. Thinking I had somehow fixed it, I logged back into daughters user account and the problem was still there..logged into another user account - the same or similarproblem. Added my daughter to the Admin group, and the problems magically went away! Of course, I don't want to give admin rights to user accounts, so I'm looking for a fix that's a little more secure

Any ideas? I've searched the heck out of the MS sites, googled the web to death, and just can't put my finger on it...

TIA to anyone that can help me out

Has your daughter perhaps set the text color the same as the background
color?
