Text box & image numbering

I would be grateful for some help. I have a presentation of some 120
slides two-thirds of which are images the same size as the slide.
Temporarily while completing the presentation I want to display the
slide number & the image number (they are different & the image numbers
are not sequential) over the images.

In the footer I have implemented the include slide number facility but
because of the above-mentioned full-size images is only seen on
one-third of the slides. Is it possible to have the slide number appear
over an image?

I have inserted a text box on the Master Slide & set its order to the
front but it does not appear over the images. Can a text box be
displayed over an image? If so how?

If you manually create a text box (not using the footer placeholder box) you
can have the page number appear over the image by either right clicking on
that text box and selecting Order > Bring to Front. You could also click on
the image, right click then selecting Order > Send to Back.

Along with what Sandy says. I don't recall how far the background option for
slides goes back. but, if you put your images that are full screen as
background images for that slide, then the footer triggered number will
appear over the image.

Sandy, Thank you for replying so promptly. I am grateful for your
interest & input.

As I understand it your method would require inserting a text box on
each of the 120 slides manually one by one. I want to insert a box on
the Master Slide that will appear on every slide the text in which can
be specific to that slide. When I did this setting the box to at the
front I found that the box was not editable & that it was behind the
image. This is so even when I send the image to the back.

This has made me think that I need a place holder rather than a text box.

Items on the master will always appear behind the images on your slide.

Format > Background > Fill Effects > Picture
Insert picture on each slide. Select "Apply."
